About this activity
Back in the day, our grandparents used to start their day pretty early in the morning. Working in the field left them exhausted by 10 am, and that's why they would always bring along something to eat. That is how they started the marenda tradition. Today, even though we don't work in the field, office hours can be just as long, and tourist are exploring the city from early hours eager to experience as much as possible. That is the reason why we offer a marenda - to continue our proud tradition.
Just follow the streets around the palace, to Dominisova street and check out our beautiful ambiance in the shadows of the ancient walls of Diocletian's palace and ask your waiter about marenda. Every day between 10 and 13 experience what it's like to be true Dalmatian, eat and drink like you've been born here. There is no marenda without traditional Dalmatian delicacies such as Dalmatian prosciutto, pancetta, cheese (from Pag island), cottage cheese and salted anchovies with honey. And lots of olive oil.
Second course is entirely up to you, you can choose to either try daily fresh fried fish from the fish market or one of traditional cooked meals. Whatever you choose, glass of cold bevanda is always included. Don't be surprised to see your wine is mixed with water - you might be eating in the shade of Uje oil bar, but the summer sun is waiting for you on the streets of Split and if the wine is strong it might leave you a bit too light headed to continue your stroll through the town.
