HALF DAY HORSEBACK WINE TOUR

We ride on some of South-Africa's most well known wine estates.

We set off from our Nursery farm, and ride onto Joostenberg organic farm. We are literally surrounded by vineyards, views and tranquility. We often see little Duikers (small antelope) and a huge variety of birds. 

We ride through vineyards, forest areas and indigenous fynbos. 

Apon leaving Joostenberg, we cross to de Meye, which is a very old estate with a historical manor house. We meander our way up the hill at Klapmuts Kop, where we stop for lunch. We enjoy our lunch overlooking table mountain, false bay, and the most spectacular scenery imaginable. 

Lunch consists of a gourmet picnic stuffed full of local delights, such as bread, cheese, olives, salad, ham, and sweet treats. 

After a rest we set off down the hill to Arra estate, where guests can partake in a wine tasting of the wonderful wines produced on Arra winery. Guests can also order wine to be delivered directly to your door at home. 

After the wine tasting, we head back home, stopping at de Meye on the way back for a break and some refreshments. 

All refreshments, lunch, and winetastings are included in this package. 

This ride does require good riding skills, and is not suitable to novices. Although our horses are very well trained, they do enjoy this ride very much, and get a little excited! Guests should be able to comfortably trot and canter. We spend around 4 hours in the saddle, so a good level of fitness is important. Novice riders are advised to book our 1 hour or 2 hour vineyard rides, which can be taylored to beginners. 

We do not mix groups, so you will get exactly the ride you want, be that a gentle meander or a fast paced canter.

Your guide is a local, and very knowledgable & passionate about South African culture, natural horsemanship and South-African wine.

We finish back at the cafe/ Coffeeshop, where you are welcome to enjoy a cold drink on the 'stoep' overlooking our beautiful African garden.
