About this activity
Depart from your centrally located hotel/cruise port in a comfortable car or minivan. Travel into the pretty Swedish countryside and move back in history.
See the Viking gravefield of Broby. Learn about the Viking woman Estrid, a by-name identified Viking woman skeleton. Travel on to the great Jarlabanki's Viking bridge, a 150-meter long bridge; constructed by the great lord Jarlabanki. Listen to the message on the rune stones, the monuments of dead Vikings.
Next, we travel to a Viking parliament and you will feel the presence of Viking power, picture the Viking lords sitting in the parliament. After this, go to Vallentuna church and see the most locally known of the Jarlabanki rune stones, hear the history about the self confident powerful Viking man Jarlabanki. The first known written down Swedish ending rhyme is in the church.
Return to your transport and head back to Stockholm after an incredible Viking experience. Be dropped at your central hotel/cruise port or another central location at your wish.

We had a great tour, two adults and two 11 year old boys. We got lots of background.information and talked about some of the myths as well as realities of the Vikings. It was fun to get out of the city and to see some of the ancient sites that are preserved to this very day. The kids really enjoyed hearing about some of the more exciting parts or the history and the parents enjoyed the depth of knowledge our guide had. Fun for all.
Angus was a great guide! We went out into the countryside and saw runestones in their original settings; completely different experience than seeing them in a museum. Also was taken to see a 'thing' meeting place, a viking built causeway, and medieval church. He displayed great knowledge of the subject matter and his ability to read the runestones was impressive.
Our private guide, Quentin, met us at the cruise port and took us right to the Runic Kingdom. It was a beautiful drive through downtown Stockholm and into the countryside. It was really nice to get out and walk in the places where the Vikings had lived. Quentin is an archeologist with a vast knowledge of the Viking culture, lifestyle and leaders. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour and HIGHLY recommend it. Quentin was an excellent guide and a very nice young man. He's also a very good driver and we felt completely safe the entire tour. Thanks for a fantastic time!
only if you are a fan of Viking...my kids enjoyed the tour and learnt some fun facts.
This tour says private and it is. The two of us were picked up near our Airbnb by a car, the driver was a friend of the tour guide who we met outside Stockholm. Got to see countryside and Viking runes with the guide giving us info about the runes and Viking history. Great tour!
I was somewhat disappointed. The guide was very quiet and seemed to have a hearing or ear issues. I feel like it could have been more informative. The driver gave us more info than the guide . I wish they would have canceled if guide was not up to capacity, or replaced him.
