Head out to Mudu Old Town, a quaint little township frequented by the Qing emperor Qianlong on each of his visits to the South, and long known as“the Wu region’s No. 1 Town”. Besides the gentle waterside vibes, the town boasts exquisite traditional landscaped Su-style garden parks. Inside, look anywhere to see elegant pavilions and villa terraces, rockery ponds, flowers beds, and lawns fall into alignment, creating art. After we arrive, the Su-style snack hunt begins! Search for the famous Umea Rice on Shantang Street once featured on ‘A Bite of China’. Another tasty bite you can't miss is the local Su pastries – with flavors salty and sweet, with vegetarian and meaty variants, all hand-made, fresh and 100% authentic, you’re sure to find something to enjoy! Nibble, shop and explore the cozy local streets. After lunch, we come to the Ancient Pine garden - one of the four best Yuanlin garden parks in Mudu. Here, with an Intangible Heritage artisan as your teacher, learn the cultural art of embroidery, enjoy the charm of the creative process and bring a little piece of Suzhou charm home to keep!
