Itinerary

Day 1: Shanghai/Hangzhou - Suzhou

Stop At: Panmen Gate, No.1 East Street, Canglang District, Suzhou 215002 China
Panmen Gate is known for its three landmarks “Ruiguang Pagoda”, the earliest pagoda in Suzhou built in 247; “Wu Gate Bridge”, the entrance to the gate at that time over the water passage and the highest bridge in Suzhou at the time and the unique water-and-land gate in China “Pan Gate”.

Stop At: Suzhou Museum, 204 Dongbei Jie, Pingjiang District, Suzhou 215000 China
Suzhou Museum’s designer, I.M. Pei, an internationally recognized and award-winning architect, traveled back to his hometown to design and build one of Suzhou’s most popular attractions.

The museum exhibits a vast collection of ancient ceramics, cultural relics and woodcarvings, and the handsome lotus pool at the museum’s center is a highlight there.

Stop At: Humble Administrator's Garden, No.178 Northeast Road, Pingjiang District, Suzhou 215001 China
One of the four famous gardens in China. World cultural heritage. The garden was created up on the old relics of a resident and a temple. Water is featured throughout the garden along with natural landscapes of small forests, hills ,rock formations and man-made pavilions, halls and parlors.

Stop At: Pingjiang Road, Pingjiang District, Suzhou China
We will take a boat from the gate of Humble Administrator’s Garden to Pingjiang Road.

It is the epitome of the ancient city of Suzhou. With the length of 1,606 meters, Pingjiang Road is a stone route with a river flowing across it. Here, bridges across the river, houses with white walls and black roofs built along the stone road, and the old walking leisurely, which presents the traditional Suzhou local life. Because of its nostalgic style, Pingjiang Road becomes the symbol of Suzhou ancient city.

Stop At: Suzhou Kunqu Theater, No.9 Jiaochangqiao Road, Pingjiang District, Suzhou China
Kunqu Opera considered as “ancestor of Chinese operas” is one of the oldest extant forms of Chinese opera and it evolved from the Kunshan melody has been listed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO since 2001. We will go to a nice tea house located on Pingjiang Road to observe time-consuming making-up process and appreciate interesting Kunqu performance.

Day 2: Suzhou downtown - Tongli Water Town - Departure

Stop At: Tongli Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou 215217 China
Tongli water town is one of the six famous ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, which are famous for their rivers, ancient bridges and house complexes. It is very rich in cultural heritage. Traditional residences including gardens, houses and temples, which are the highlight of the city.
