Yangcheng Lake

,which is located in the northwest of Suzhou City is one of the important freshwater lakes in Jiangsu Province. It covers an area of 120 square kilometers (about 46 square miles), is17 kilometers (about 11 miles) long from north to south and 8 kilometers (about 5 miles) wide from east to west. Seen from far away, it appears like a piece of shiny jade in the sun.

Visit the Chongyuan Temple. It was originally built 1500 years ago and rebuilt in 2003. When the temple was reopened in 2007, its main hall was the highest and biggest main temple hall in China. The most impressive pavilion in the temple complex, the Goddess of Mercy Pavilion, is surrounded by water. It houses a statue of the Goddess, which is, at 33 meters, the highest of its kind in China.The monks of Chongyuan Temple regularly hold meditation sessions. Because of its beautiful scenery and serene atmosphere, the temple has become a well-known and popular meditation center in Suzhou.
