Sydney to Cairns Freestyle Tour

About this activity
Day 1: Sydney (Arrival Day)
Check into your central located hostel and get ready for your epic East Coast adventure.
Day 2: Blue Mountains Day Trip
See wild kangaroos, Wentworth Falls, the Jamison Valley and 3 Sisters lookout along a 1.5 hour hike.
Day 3: Sydney to Barrington Tops
Head to the Hunter Valley for wine tasting and then river tubing at Barrington Tops National Park.
Day 4: Barrington Tops to Spot X
Head to Spot X stopping along the way at a koala hospital and a nature reserve to see wild kangaroos and beautiful coastline.
Day 5: Spot X Surf Camp to River Retreat
Start the day with a group surf lesson and then head to River Retreat for a guided canoeing trip. We sleep under the Aussie stars.
Day 6: River Retreat to Byron Bay
Cruise up to Byron Bay, stopping at the Angourie Pools in Yamba.
Day 7: Full Day Byron Bay
Enjoy a free day in Byron.
Day 8: Byron Bay to Noosa or Rainbow Beach
Travel day with stops.
Day 9-10: Fraser Island
3 day / 2 night 4WD expedition
Day 11: Fraser Island to Rainbow Beach/Noosa
Today you’ll spend the morning walking through magical sand dunes and soaking up the sun. You’ll return back to Rainbow Beach (or Noosa) in the early afternoon.
Day 12: Rainbow Beach to Emu Park
Start the train portion of your trip heading up to Emu Park where you'll learn about the Treasure Island Adventure tomorrow.
Day 13: Emu Park to Airlie Beach
Head to Great Keppel Island for Treasure Island Adventure set on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef then travel overnight to Airlie Beach – the gateway to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.
Day 14: Full Day Airlie Beach
Take a walking tour of Airlie with your guide and enjoy the rest of the day to yourself.
Day 15-16: Airlie Beach to Whitsunday Islands
2-day, 1-night adventure through the breathtaking Whitsunday Islands. Set sail on the Great Barrier Reef and check out Whitehaven Beach.
Day 17: Airlie Beach to Magnetic Island
Take a guided Fort's walk, explore or relax. Ferry back to the mainland and head to Airlie in the evening.
Day 18: Magnetic Island to Rainforest Experience
Travel to Tully where you'll embark on Stray’s signature Rainforest Experience. Cool off with a swim in a beautiful swimming hole before a BBQ dinner and stories around the campfire.
Day 19: Tully to Cairns
Take an interpretative walk through the forest, learning about the traditional indigenous usage of the land in the morning and head to Cairns after to celebrate your last night on tour.
Day 20: Cairns
Final day of your tour.

- Although some meals are included on this Tour, not all meals are. Depending on which day you depart you may need to pay for additional nights accommodation in some locations. The cost of additional accommodation outside of the 19 nights is not included, but can easily be booked with your guide or on the Stray Mate app.

- All the activities/accommodation listed are open-dated, please contact Stray’s reservations team (hey@straytravel.com) at least 48 hours prior to arrival to confirm your bookings. For Fraser Island and Whitsunday Sailing trip bookings, we recommend booking at least 7 days in advance to guarantee your spot.
- In peak periods (e.g. Christmas/New Years Eve, Easter, School Holidays/Events) some accommodation may be subject to an additional surcharge or minimum number of nights
- Freestyle Tours include the first night’s accommodation at each destination, a selection of top-rated activities and some meals. Due to how Stray’s timetable works, travellers may have an additional night in certain places which will need to be booked and paid for in addition to the nights included in their tour.
- You can break your journey at any of the stops through any of the travel days and just connect with a later Stray bus or rail departure (guided or unguided). You can pre-book your own accommodation via our Stray Mate App or your guide will help book it for you. If travellers choose to hop-off and extend their stay in any location, all additional accommodation, meals and activities are at their own expense. Additional accommodation and activities can be booked via the Stray Mate app.
