We thoroughly enjoyed the first 4 days of our trip round Taiwan. Our guide, Elvis, and our driver Steven, were exceptional, going out of their way to be helpful. I can not recommend them more highly. They made the trip a real experience not to be forgotten. The last day we went to the Taroko Gorge with a bigger group and a different guide, Josephine. While the scenery was wonderful,the guide was unclear in her instructions leading to confusion. She also tried to accommodate one member of the tour who wanted to go to see the Pacaific Ocean. This was not part of the tour programme. The result was that we ended up rushing to get our train because we were late. Her descriptions about what we were seeing was not easy to understand. It did not help that she had to translate everything into Chinese, English and Japanese.
