Tenorio Volcano National Park Hike

Upon arriving at the entrance, you will start out on a 2 hour moderately difficult hike in the park. Along the trail you will walk through the rainforest and along the Celeste River, where you can observe one of nature's most intriguing phenomenons. After this beautiful site, you will continue hiking to where two brooks merge together, turning clear water into a divine hue of turquoise that makes Rio Celeste. This chemical reaction, due to the volcanic minerals, makes for an astounding sight that can only be experienced at this unique location. After hiking, you will head to another part of the river outside of the park where you will get to swim in the blue waters!! This is where you will often see sloths and other wildlife. This hike is a fantastic opportunity for healthy exercise and unforgettable experiences in one of Costa Rica's most unique hidden gems.

**Please be aware, on rare occasions the river may be brown due to heavy rains

Paul was an amazing tour guide who went out of his way to make sure we saw monkeys, sloths, and toucans. The waterfall at Llanos de Cortes was beautiful and the water was nice but not nearly beautiful as the rainforest at Tenorio Volcano National Park. The hike in Rio Celeste was about 2 1/2 hours with hundreds of steps and rough terrain. It was muddy and the rain boots 4 were not at all comfortable to hike around in for that length. If you do any other hiking or plan on doing so on this or other trips, I would highly recommend purchasing some hiking boots with ankle support to save your feet some pain afterwards. Would highly recommend this excursion as it was an amazing experience. Just be prepared for a long, tiring but well worth it hike/day.

This was the most amazing experience! Our guide Claudio was absolutely fantastic! He was full of information and took very good care of us the entire time. I thought the pictures were exaggerated but this water is actually that blue. Kudos to Native's Way team for everything. Morgan helped me out a lot too, I was staying a bit out of town and arranged my pick up in a place that wasn't on their pick up list. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
