ZooTampa's mission is "to connect people with the living earth." You'll do just that at this 56-acre zoo filled with naturalistic animal exhibits in a lush, tropical garden setting. This zoo offers popular educational programming and fun recreational amenities, for which it has won accolades as one of the country's most family-friendly zoos.

Operating in accordance with the highest professional standards of conservation, education, research and recreation, ZooTampa at Lowry Park serves as a resource for the community regarding conservation and environmental matters affecting animals and habitats, both locally and throughout the world.

You'll see endangered, threatened and vulnerable species from climates similar to that of the Tampa Bay region, with park areas devoted to Asia, Africa, Australia and Florida. Additional areas exhibit primates and birds. Exhibits balance support for the maximum well-being of the animals with the importance of the guest experience in relation to our mission. Keeper talks, animal encounters, behind-the-scene tours, and other special experiences expand the Zoo’s opportunities to promote a connection to the living earth.

Upon entering the Zoo, visit the Main Free-Flight Aviary or splash around in the Manatee Fountains before you continue your adventure to one of the 5 continent areas. Highlights in this area include the Macaw Flyover, Garden Grille and Nature's Kingdom.

In the Florida Wildlife area, you will see a wide variety of animals with nearly 800 that exist no where else on earth! Learn about a variety of plants and animals threatened by extinction. Highlights in this area include David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center, Florida Boardwalk, Sting Ray Bay and String Ray Gift Shop, ZooVentures Theater.

Continue on to the Asian Gardens to see the leopards, tigers and bears! Watch as the tigers explore the water's edge, the Indian rhinos at play, and watch the Clouded leopards and all their spots.

Check out the Primate World to see Bornean orangutans, chimpanzees and brilliant-colored mandrills. Catch a glimpse of tiny squirrel monkeys and many more primates from around the world. The majority of these primates are endangered in the wild; learn about what you might be able to do to protect them in their native land.

Take a break from the animals to ride the Jungle Carousel or head down to Wallaroo Station to enjoy the Tasmanian Tiger Coaster, the Wallaby Walkabout, Wallaroo Petting Zoo and splash around in the Wallaroo Water Play Area.

Wrap up your visit with Safari Africa. See some of the finest natural wildlife at close hand - elephants, zebras, meerkats, white rhinos, cheetahs, pygmy hippos, okapi, African penguins and much more!
