Around 08H00, leave Tangier for 1 ½ hours drive to one of the most interesting cities the north of Morocco. Tetouan, was built built by the merinides in the 14th century, destroyed by the Spanish in 1399. Reconstructed by the Moorish & Jews refugees from Granada began in 1492. Tetouan became the capital of the Spanish protectorate zone in north of Morocco in 1913. We visit the large and interesting medina (old town) in its medieval Moorish-Andalusian architecture to the archeological museum which exhibits Stone Age tools, Carthaginian ceramics and roman status and mosaics. On to the Jewish quarter in the old town which still surrounded by walls, attractive plazas with ornate tiled fountains colorful markets, and busy lanes where craftsman can be seen on their work process among them, carpenters, gold and silversmiths, cobblers, dyers, tailors and many others… The tour ends at Bab Okla, Museum of Moroccan arts & crafts……you briefly visit the church for an outside visit before get back to the Vehicle and continue your trip towards Chefchaouen for 1 ½ hours’ drive through the Riff Mountains. Passing by small Berber villages and the most breathtaking landscape. Chefchaouen is famous by the blue lime-washed houses, busy squares, steep alleyways, and the best way to discover this holy city is to wander around it taking in the atmosphere. Cut into the sides of two mountains, Chefchaouen is a city with blue and white lime-washed houses. A powerful charm that you really can feel in the Outa-El-Hammam Square, in the Cobblestone medina. Sat on the Terrace of A café, you can enjoy the attractive view of the grand Tarik-Ben-Ziad mosque whose octagonal minaret is inspired by that of the TORRE DE ORO in Seville. This andalusian architecture can be found in the Kasbah and its gardens, at the center of the medina. Its walls and its 11 crenulated towers, of which one used to be a dungeon house, an interesting ethnographic museum. In the small museum in the Kasbah can be found collections of embroideries colored and varied pieces of clothing like those worn by the region’s women. The famous Djellaba, this long ample garment worn by men and women of North Africa, and was created here. The welcome and great hospitality provided by its inhabitants can be experienced during a visit to a traditional oil mill (there are more than 1500 of them) or a craftsman’s workshop. Over and above its weaving, Chefchaouen is renowned for its basket-making and its pottery. Lunch at leisure.
