About this activity
Your private chef will pick you up at your hotel/port in Taormina or Giardini, and drive you to the beautiful villa of his family.
Together with Sicilian chef Tino and his family you will prepare 4-course dinner. You will start with cooking traditional Sicilian starters - traditional Sicilian relish caponata (traditional dish of eggplant, tomatoes, papper, onion, capers), or Sicilian bruschettas.
For the 1st course you will prepare traditional pasta dish - "A-la norma" (pasta with eggplants and tomatoes), or pasta palermitana (traditional Sicilian pasta dish with anchovy and pistacchio), or pasta with mussels and clams.
For the 2nd course you will cook traditional Sicilian fish or meat dish.
For dessert you will cook traditional Sicilian dolce - cannoli, granita or jelly. Finally, you will sit at the beautiful patio (depending on weather), and have dinner with a company of Sicilian wines and home-made liquors - limoncello, amaro, almond wine. All the evening you will be enjoying a friendly company of locals, who will be happy to tell some stories about every day life and history of Sicily.

It was fun and the food was good. The drive Marco gave a good overview of Taormina and the sights that we passed and he even was the interpreter. Before the class, we were told that the regular Sicilian chef was not available and we said yes to a substitute who also was good but was limited in English so Marco interpreted. Also it would be nice to have recipes after the class
This is not the typical cooking class tour. We have been on others. This one takes place at a locals restaurant. You won't see any tourists. We were taken into the restaurant and immediately served wine. Imagine that! From there we were taken right into the kitchen where the chef immediately put us to work. It was very fast paced and hot since the grills were on, but that's what made it fun. We were served wine the entire time. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. After that we were seated and served the food we had just made. You'll be served more food and wine than you can consume. Our tour guide Marcos was so friendly and informative and often served as our interpreter. Marcos is an excellent guide. We considered him a friend, not just a tour guide.
