Start your wonderful culinary travel at 10:00 with a pick-up from your accommodation by a native authorized local guide/ driver. Continue your trip driving through typical Sicilian villages admiring local and authentic lava stone houses, orange and lemon plantations, olives and almond trees while listening to charming stories about Sicilian culture, tradition and food. Proceeding up until 1000 meters above sea level, you will discover the breathtaking Etna territory. Here, enjoy views of the best Etna vineyards surrounded by frames of lava stones.
After 45 minutes of driving, you will stop at the first venue, an antique family run winery, where you will be welcomed by the owner with a glass of cool rose prosecco. After a guided visit of cellars, you will start your wine tasting with cold appetizers in an astonishing lava stone open air Amphitheatre. Tasting will include: one glass of Etna white wine, one glass of Etna red wine, locally produced cheeses, salami, artichokes, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil bruschetta. Your second stop will be in an antique and unique farmhouse just 10 minutes drive from the winery. Here, you will continue your food and wine tour in a shadowy open-air terrace overlooking beautiful vineyards, farms and flowers. Tasting will include: 2 glasses of local Etna wines, ricotta cheese with marmalade, grilled mushrooms, grilled sweet pepper, vegetable omelet, fried cheese and 2 different tasting of pasta with seasonal local ingredients (black pork sauce, mushrooms, pistachio, aubergines, asparagus etc). Had a great time on this tour. Picked up from our hotel right on time. We have Guiseppe as our guide and he was very knowledgeable about Mount Etna and the Sicilian way of life. The winery was very interesting and were generous with tastings and appetisers. The lunch was also something to remember with unique dishes (we ate donkey). Loved it!
This tour is for real foodies. First place was amazing winery with friendly hosts and thrilling panorama. Outdoor wine tasting was offered with the best pairing local products such as selections of Etna cheeses, salami, prosciutto, olives, dried tomatoes, mushrooms, homemade bread with olive oils and seasonal jams. I was already full, but tour continued further. Second place is a fragrant farmhouses with it's homemade antipasti, pasta and grilled meat...and still after this we continued to the local bar to finish with some traditional sweets and liquors. Our guide Saro was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, wines were perfect, views around were astonishing - what is not to like? I would definitely book again and recommend to everyone.
