About this activity
We meet at 10:30 am, at one of several wilderness trailhead location throughout the Taos and Santa Fe area. After a fun and informative "Meet the Llamas", and a brief safety talk and orientation, we'll hit the trail.

Depending on the time of year, we'll hike into one of the pristine wilderness areas of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, or descend into the iconic Rio Grande Gorge in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.

Trips in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains take place in the Carson National Forest, are easy to moderate hikes, and include a scenic hike along a meandering stream, through lush forests of aspen and fir, with alpine meadows and wildflowers in summer. Trips into the Rio Grande Gorge are moderate to strenuous, and descend 800' into "New Mexico's Grand Canyon". No matter where we hike, we'll prepare and serve an amazing gourmet lunch, in a scenic wilderness location. After lunch, we'll begin our hike back to the trailhead, returning by 3-4 pm.

Participants must be in good health, and be able to hike approximately 5 miles, in sometimes steep and rugged terrain, at altitudes above 7,000'. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your ability to participate in our wilderness hiking trips.
