About this activity

After leaving the Port we take in the sights of Mount Maunganui with a drive along one of the best beaches in New Zealand. See the abundant of coffee shops, cafes, and breath-taking scenery, including the famous 'Mount' for which this area is named. After leaving the coastline, we head into the lush countryside, and our to your way to Rotorua, passing lakes and forests, and seeing the first hint of the geothermal area you are heading to.

Enter a strange and unusual landscape with the aroma of sulfur and sights of steam vents exiting the earth at every available crevice. You will visit Rotorua and its Whakarewarewa Valley. Here you can witness The prince of wales Feathers geyser and The Pohutu Geyser (the biggest Geyser in the southern hemisphere). This valley is steeped in history, traditions and cultures that span hundreds of years the people of this village have lived surrounded by geothermal activity (geysers, steam vents and mud pools) which they utilize in their everyday life for cooking, bathing and heating. 

Experience one of Rotorua's leading Maori cultural performance groups as they serenade you with a song and dance including the world famous Haka. For centuries Whakarewarewa village has been home to the Tuhourangi Ngati Wahiao people. As New Zealand's original tourist attraction, They have hosted visitors from around the world since the mid 1800's.

Upon leaving the geothermal village we make our way to lunch. Sit back and enjoy a 2 course lunch with unlimited teas and coffee.

Rainbow Springs is the perfect place for families to explore and get up close to birds, bugs and beasts. Set amongst the native trees and beautiful forests of Rotorua, Rainbow Springs Nature Park offers a fun-packed and educational experience for the whole family. Each day a team of experts run special encounter which allow you to get closer than ever to some of the favorite park residents including trout, reptiles and native birds. 

Walk into our canopy aviary and watch the birds being fed!! Watch the natural ground foraging behavior of the kākāriki , Kiwi, Kaka, Weka, Kea and Morepork hear our tui sing and see our huge kereru up close. As you walk around this native park you will come across Water Dragons, Blue Tongued Lizards, Geckos and Tuataras. Jump onboard the Big Splash a water log flume ride or let the kids have fun in the adventure playground.
