Stop at Gelati Monastery

Gelati is a medieval monastic complex near Kutaisi in the Imereti region. A masterpiece of the Georgian Golden Age, Gelati was founded in 1106 by King David IV of Georgia and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It signifies the value of the Georgian Christian orthodox religion. Inside the monastery is full of murals and an abundance amount of imagery surrounding the interior of the church. It was one of the first monasteries in Georgia and adds great value to the Georgian culture and beauty. The monastery was built during the Byzantine Empire. It was built to show how Christianity encompassed all of this land. The monastery is covered in arches that stretch over mountains. It shows how encompassing the monastery is over the mountains and the hills.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop at Bagrati Cathedral

Our trip begins and we travel to the Imereti region direction in Western Georgia. First stop will be at The Cathedral of the Dormition, or the Kutaisi Cathedral, more commonly known as Bagrati Cathedral, an 11th-century cathedral in the city of Kutaisi. A masterpiece of the medieval Georgian architecture, the cathedral suffered heavy damage throughout centuries and was reconstructed to its present state through a gradual process starting in the 1950s, with major conservation works concluding in 2012. A distinct landmark in the scenery of central Kutaisi, the cathedral rests on the Ukimerioni Hill.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop at Martvili Canyon

This wonderful place is located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, in Georgia. Small city of Martvili, just half an hour driving time from Kutaisi. Martvili district is truly one of the greatest places in Georgia – combining a unique natural environment with historical monuments. It is a place with lots of waterfalls and sky blue water! You can lend a boat with a boatman and he will take you to an unforgettable journey between high rocks in Canyon. On the shore, among the trees, there are special wooden tables and chairs where you can have a nice picnic. There is also a small footpath which will lead you to the Dadiani’s “swimming pool” ( this is a place of the river, looked like a pool ). Great place to have an adventure with a family, friends or co-workers.

Duration: 120 minutes

After Martvili Canyon we will travel straight to Tbilisi and drop you off in your hotel.
