The monument was built in 1983 in honer of the Treaty of Georgievsk between the Russian Empire and the east Georgian kingdom.
The massive round “friendship” monument still looks out over Devil’s Valley and the Caucasus Mountains.
With stamina and nerves of steel you can stand on its vertiginous summit and observe the power and beauty of the mountains.

Stop At: Gergeti Trinity Church, Stepantsminda Georgia

Surrounded by the mountains of the Caucasus, the Gergeti Trinity Church and nunnery is one of the most famous travel destinations in Georgia. The church was built in the 14th c. and is the only cross-cupola church in the Khevi province.
There is a living monastery next to the church, with monks living there year-round despite the very cold temperatures.
