About this activity
Upon arrival at Westray Adventures, only 5km outside of Te Anau, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and can make a first connection with the horses. We will take you through a safety briefing, explain the tour and fit you with helmets.
After we have gotten to know you a little bit, we will try to match you with the best horse depending on you riding experience and character. One of our guides will give you riding instruction and a demonstration to ensure even the first timers will feel confident. If there are no questions we start on our tour.
We will ride through working farm land, so an encounter of other horses, sheep and cattle is more than likely. The trek will take you straight up hills, along duck ponds, our man made "mini lake" and over green paddocks. When we reach the top of the hill you will get the chance to soak in the view and enjoy the panorama. There will be photo stops where we are more than happy to take a picture of you, your horse and the scenery. So make sure you bring a camera.
For the more experienced riders there might be a chance to go for a trot or canter depending on weather conditions. Please request this at time of booking.
We should arrive back at the stables after around 1 hour. You can take the opportunity to give your horse one last big stroke and give him a brush if you wish and snap a selfie together.
We offer a free pick up from your accommodation in Te Anau. Please advice at point of booking.
