About this activity
Spend a day soaking up the wartime history near Bangkok at Kanchanaburi, site of the bridge over the River Kwai and Death Railway

Drive out to Kanchanaburi, Thailand’s third largest province, located west of Bangkok, and spend a day taking in the turbulent history of the area. You’ll first visit the bridge over the River Kwai, a historical landmark that is part of the Death Railway built by Allied prisoners of war, under control of the Japanese in 1942. You’ll also visit the Jeath War Museum to enhance your knowledge and the War Cemetery where thousands of POWs were laid to rest. After a local lunch you’ll end the day with a bamboo rafting ride, an elephant trek and time to soak up the beauty of Kanchanburi at the cascading Saiyoknoi Waterfall.

  • Stop by the infamous bridge over the River Kwai and take a death defying ride on the Death Railway

  • Visit the War Cemetery, resting-place for over 6,000 Allied prisoners and the Death War Museum to learn more about the happenings of 1942 under Japanese control

  • Swim and soak in the sun at the awe-inspiring Saiyoknoi Waterfall

  • Enjoy a bamboo rafting ride and elephant trek included

  • The perfect day trip from Bangkok for history buffs
