About this activity
At your chosen tour time, head to Rijswijk (Delft Noord), a quick 5-minute train ride from The Hague. Meet your guide for a tour of the Delftse Pauw factory, where the famous Dutch blue-and-white pottery is produced and sold.

Inspired by Chinese porcelain, Delftware, or Delft pottery, was first produced in Delft in the 16th century. An easier-to-obtain option than real Chinese porcelain, Delftware quickly became popular with wealthy Dutch people, and at one point, an estimated 30 factories in the town produced the sought-after pottery. Today, only a few of the factories — such as Delftse Pauw — remain to carry on the tradition of making hand-painted Delftware.

Learn how this pottery is made and see where the pieces are painted by hand to create the classic blue-and-white designs. Then admire the final product in the showroom, which displays a range of Delft pottery pieces. As a treat on this tour, take home your own authentic Delft pottery, a perfect display piece to remember your Delft experience. You’ll also receive discounts on any additional items you may like to purchase. If you prefer to have your shopping shipped to your home address, this can be arranged (own expense).
