This was a really fun and nature-filled way to spend the day in La Fortuna. Wave Expeditions staff was professional and helpful when we called to verify their location and confirm our appointment. The morning of our tour we were greeted by Carlos and loaded up on a well air conditioned microbus driven by Abraham. While Abraham drove us safely to our destination, Carlos spoke about our plan for the day, safety measures, history and sites we passed and answered questions. He was engaging and humorous. Everyone else on our bus was doing the Class 2 and 3 rafting expedition, so we dropped them off further up river, picked up our tubes and headed to our drop point. We had all the safety equipment necessary and Carlos went over the tubing-specific instructions while we waited for the group to arrive at our point on the river. The tubing was FUN!! We were able to float alone, together or hooked onto Carlos' kayak as some of the larger rapids required. It was great to lay back and enjoy the scenery with little bursts of adrenaline. Our family of 4, 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child 10yo found this to be the perfect amount of exercise, fun and adrenaline. Midway through our tour down the river we stopped with everyone for a yummy snack of fresh fruits. Carlos and Roberto, who joined us the second half of the trip, were knowledgeable and great to talk with. After our tubing tour ended, we arrived at the busses and a changing area where we could dry off and have a cold drink. Towels were provided. We highly recommend bringing your own or renting from Wave Exp a GoPro camera -- we ended up with priceless photos and videos. We loaded up and headed to a local organic farm where we enjoyed a tasty lunch of local dishes, a cup of coffee and had the opportunity to see the photos taken by the Wave Exp photographer during the tour. The farmer then gave a short talk about how sugar cane is processed and volunteers had the opportunity to help process some sugar juice for everyone to try. Our bus arrived promptly back at the main office at the end of the afternoon. We spoke with the reservations desk and asked if we could move our visit to Kalambu Hot Springs to the next day because we were wiped out. She was able to confirm the reservation with Kalambu Springs and we headed home. The next afternoon we had no problem entering the Springs with our voucher and enjoyed the water park very much. The slides are well constructed and there is something for everyone. Our one complaint was the lack of seating and chairs throughout the park.
