About this activity
The departure will be at 5:00 a.m. leaving the established points in the provinces of San Jose and Alajuela. Once the group come together, we will depart to our destination. Our first stop will be to have a delicious breakfast, about an hour and thirty minutes from the departure. With the energy that the breakfast brings us, we will take the route to move to La Fortuna de San Carlos, place where a splendid waterfall will be waiting for us. Approximately at 9:00 a.m. we will arrive at the Rio Fortuna Waterfall, we will make the corresponding registry, and begin to descend the 500 steps that separate us from the majesty of the Fortuna River and the streams that come from the Arenal Volcano National Park, we are very close to the area. In the place, we will be able to enjoy the crystalline water that offers us the nature and all abundant vegetation and the diversity of fauna. After enjoying this wonderful resource, we will be ready to go for a delicious lunch, but before we will have the chance to put dry clothes while we move to a restaurant in the area.

After lunch, we will continue our way to Jicarito de San Carlos, where we will find the Venado village and from there approximately 3 kilometers on a ballast route we will get to the Venado Caves. Once in the place, we must put on the safety equipment and listen all the recommendations that are required, to go and explore the caves in an exciting adventure. Inside the caverns there are activities such as climbing walls or "crawling" through holes. On the tour you will find bats, spiders and marine fossils. The cavern consists of 10 rooms of numerous sizes, some of them are quite narrow and low, so you must cross underground rivers. Each of them is about 35 meters high on average and many are interconnected. The rest is a conservation area reserved for speleologists, in charge of exploring and studying this type of formations. When you lived this underground adventure, where the notion of time is lost, after traveling 600 meters, we return to the light that will indicate that the closing of the day is approaching. After the tour, we will be ready to return to the Central Valley around 5:00 p.m., during the way back it will be a strategic stop. Finally, we will be arriving at the places of departure around 7:00 p.m.
