About this activity
Day 1: Kruja, the centre of the Albanian resistance against the Ottoman
After arrival at noon, transfer to Kruja, where a guided tour through the traditional handicrafts market and the visit of the Illyrian castle are planned. Then we will be transferred in the direction of Fishta to have dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight stay in Shkodra.
Day 2: Shkodra, the centre of north Albania
The day begins with a guided walk through the city and the visits of the Historic Museum and the Lead Mosque. A short walk uphill to Rozafa Castle is then planned. After lunch drive to Theth where dinner and accommodation in a simple guest house are provided.
Day 3: Theth and surroundings
The walk begins in the village with a visit of the "Isolation Tower". Then we will hike to the Waterfall of Grunas and to the Grunas Canyon that is 30m in height and one meter in width. After a short break, the hike continues up to Ndërlysa.
We will continue our hike up to the "Blue Eye", a spellbinding natural pool with amazingly blue water in a jungle-like environment. After a short break hike back to Ndërlysa and transfer to our guesthouse. (6h, Ascend/Descend 450m)
Day 4: Through the Pass of Valbonë to Valbona
The ascent is initially soft and runs through the woods, then becomes steeper and continues on scree to the Pass of Valbonë. The descent towards Valbonë is initially craggy, getting softer as we approach the valley. We will walk through the valley of Valbonë up to the village where dinner and accommodation in guesthouse are provided. (7h, Ascend 1070m, Descend 900m)
Day 5: Local life in the surroundings of Valbona
Just after breakfast, the hike towards the hanging glacial valley of Kukaj starts. Passing by the houses of Kukaj, we will follow the path through the valley until we reach a small grassy plateau with a mountain, where we will be offered a coffee from the local shepherds.
After a short photo break, hike down to the guest house in the valley. (4h, Ascend/Descend 750m)
Day 6: The Koman lake and Tirana
The ferry ride across Lake Koman allows you to see some spectacular scenery, not unlike a Norwegian fjord winding its way between high cliffs and towering peaks. We will leave the ferry in Koman, from where the trip will continue by car to Tirana.
In the afternoon, a tour of the city is planned along with a visit to the National Historical Museum, Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Skanderbeg monument. After the visit, we will walk to the restaurant for the dinner. Accompaniment back to the hotel.
