2 days
Full Day
About this activity

The tour bus departs Tokyo and heads to Numata in Gunma Prefecture for a spot of shopping, where you can buy souvenirs as well as any snacks, drinks etc. for the trip.

The autumn leaves viewing kicks off with a visit to Fukiware-no-taki Falls, known as the "Niagara of the Orient". This area is very popular with tourists as the stream drops down from both sides. Then head to Yudaki Falls and feel its powerful force up close from the observatory point as you watch the water wildly cascade down. Next up is Ryuzu Waterfall, also known as "Dragon Head Falls" because of its shape resembling a dragon's head. This waterfall splits into two falling streams at the bottom.

Kegon Falls follows afterwards, which is the most famous waterfall in the Nikko area and also one of the three greatest waterfalls in Japan. Enjoy the stunning beauty of the waterfall accentuated by the gorgeous autumn color backdrop. To get up real close, you can ride an elevator for an additional JPY550, which is not included in the tour fee (time permitting.)

After four consecutive waterfalls, it's time for the more tranquil environment of Lake Chuzenji, a scenic lake in the mountains which will be tinged in autumn colors and reflecting off the water's surface. After 20 minutes, board the bus which will be heading to the hotel for the night. Make sure to look out at the scenery as we will be passing through Iroha Zaka Slope, a pair of winding roads that cut through the mountainous terrain.

For departures on October 26th and 27th, the tour will next visit an exclusive Halloween event at Tobu World Square to see 102 miniature models of world famous buildings including 45 World Heritage Sites (approx. 1 hour)

Arrive at Hotel Nasushiobara-Bettei in Nasu-Shiobara Onsen resort and relax your weary bodies with dinner and hot springs.

With batteries recharged, Day 2 starts with a visit to Taiko Oroshi Falls, which features an attractive basin before moving onto Ryuo Gorge, a stunning valley dyed in fiery autumnal colors that contains Nijimi & Tategoto Falls. Next, stop by Jao Waterfall, which is unique for the falling water is said to resemble a snake, giving the waterfall its name.

The trip continues to Kawamata Dam, Setoaikyo Canyon, a dam lake surrounded by mountains. Explore the area using the walking path and suspension bridge and feel the enormity of the 100m high cliffs of the canyon. The final spot is Kirifurinotaki Falls known for its two-tiered formation and the mist effect that the water produces as it hits the rock.

With sightseeing over, there is time for one last-minute shopping in Nikko before heading back to Tokyo.
