About this activity
Visit: Mother Farm, 940-3 Tagura, Futtsu 299-1731 Chiba Prefecture

1. Arrival at Makiba Gate

Local bus from JR Kimitsu Station will take you to the Makiba Gate. Make sure you take picture with Mother Cow Statue in front of the gate before you enter our extensive farm, to ride attractions and or interact with animals.

2. Milking Experience

There are thick blood vessels running around the cow's breast or "udder." These concentrations of blood vessels carry abundant nutrients which become the components of the milk in the udder. Feel the warmth of the mother cow through the milking experience.

3. Piglet Race

Naughty piglets younger than three months old run with full of energy. Why don't you buy a piggy mascot (500 yen each) to cast your vote as your prediction on which one you hope will win? If you are right, you will win a stuffed doll of a mother pig as a prize! Observe carefully how the piggies run around before the race and cast your ballot.

4. Rabbit Petting

Try touching a rabbit or Guinea pig. See the cute expression on its face and feel its warmth. This is how you pet the rabbits and Guinea pigs on the table without actually hugging them, so children who are not accustomed to animals can feel comfortable. The ear of a rabbit has many fine blood vessels and

nerves running through it. It is also very delicate, so be sure not to pinch or hold it tightly. Its’ broad shape helps to regulate the rabbit's body temperature, as well as hear sounds over a long range, enabling it to protect itself from predators.

5. Sheep’s Grand Parade (No parade during July-August)

Around 150 sheep are parading while being herded by a sheepdog. After the show, there will be time for you to go inside the pasture fence and pet the sheep. When you do, check out their ears! They have colorful tags attached. In the spring when all the baby sheep are born, a tag with a certain color is attached to their ears. The color is changed each year so you can easily tell their age. Tag number indicates the order in which they were born, while position indicates their sex: right ear for male and left ear for female.

6. Agrodome’s Sheep Show

Gathered here are 19 breeds of sheep from all over the world, each with different characteristics. Before you know it, the sheep are completely naked! Sheep shearing is a sight you will not want to miss. Each of the sheep from the 19 different breeds taking the stage are large and very dynamic looking. Some male

sheep weigh nearly 100kg. The reason they are so large is because they have not been castrated.

7. Duck’s Parade

Ducks have fluffy soft feathers or “down” which is used for clothes, cushions and more. In the "Duck Parade" you can watch about 40 ducks marching at full speed. With their rear ends waddling as they walk on their short legs, the geese doing the "Goose Step" is a sight you do not want to miss. Pay attention

to the tail feather attached to their butts. Male's tail feathers are curled and female's ones are not. If you listen carefully to a goose's cry, you will hear 2 types of sounds, a loud "honk" and a quiet "cackle."

A male goose will make a "honking" sound, while a female makes a "cackle".

8. Departure from Makiba Gate

Do not forget to sample our famous ice cream and other sweets before riding bus home from Makiba Gate!
