Stop At: Narusawa Ice Cave, 8533, Narusawa-mura, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0320 Yamanashi Prefecture
It is a pit-type cave that was created by molten lava flowing after one of Mt. Fuji's eruptions that occurred more than 1150 years ago. Even during the summer, the temperature in the Ice Cave usually stays below freezing. Consequently the cave has been used since the early 1900s as "refrigerator" to store food and store ice for use around the year. With a 15-minute walk inside the caves, you can see lava shelves, rope-like lava, and ice pillars that do not melt even in summer.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Fugaku Wind Cave, 2068-1 Aokigahara Saiko, Fujikawaguchiko-machi, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0332 Yamanashi Prefecture
