Samurai Museum is located in the KABUKICHO district of Shinjuku, which is one of the urban areas in Tokyo. However, once you arrive at the museum, you will be amazed by the traditional atmosphere it provides. It displays various kinds of authentic artifacts such as Samurai armor, helmets and weapons. The mission for the museum is to share true Samurai spirits with you so that you can have a better understanding of Samurai , including how they fought, who they were, what they believed. The museum offers an English guided tour that runs frequently for you to learn rich Samurai history at a deeper level. Many interesting facts about Samurai are covered in this tour.In addition, it has a photo booth where you are allowed to take pictures wearing Samurai outfits or Kimono. Also, the museum offers a special samurai live show at 2,3,4 and 5 pm where a trained performer shows you high skilled martial arts called Tate. The Museum shop is also worth visiting to buy cool gifts such as Katana.

In the museum, you can feel the tasteful atmosphere of a tea house. We display a large number of Japanese dolls such as Gosho doll (palace doll), Kamo doll, Isho doll, Ichimatsu doll, which have been loved as toys for girls, and, Hina doll and Gogatsu doll, which have been displayed to wish for the healthy growth of kids. Also, you can find ceramic figurines such as Arita ware and Satsuma ware, which had gained popularity in Europe from the end of Edo period to Meiji period (about 100 to 150 years ago) ,as well as Takeda doll, a humorous looking actor-like doll, clay dolls from each region of Japan ,and, Matryoshka that got inspired from the Japanese doll. Japan is the largest doll’s possession country in the world and numerous craft methods have been used to produce dolls. We hope that you enjoy traditional Japanese dolls that have been loved by Japanese people over time.
