Get Out to Mt Fuji

1 day
About this activity
Our tour departs from the West Exit of Shinjuku Station. Please note that there is no hotel pickup arranged for this tour, however we will be happy to put together a customized manual for how to arrive at the departure point from your accommodations in Tokyo.
The tour will depart at 7:30 am, and proceed west toward Mt. Fuji. Our experience with this specific route spans over 15 years, so we'll be sure to provide a few insights that will go well with our provided tour booklet for this trip given to each of our tour participants. These booklets will be available on the bus when you board in the morning. Tour participants are strongly encouraged to ask questions about the area, as keen travelers will be aware that the space between Tokyo and Mt. Fuji holds a wealth of history as well.
Our first stop will be the Arakura Sengen Shrine, a vantage point that provides absolutely stunning scenic views of the mountain all year long. Although a cloudy day can prevent travelers from witnessing the full beauty of the mountain, cloud formations change often around Mt. Fuji and glimpses regularly become available from this location.
Next on our tour will be a visit to one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and tour participants will be given a choice of a sushi or yakiniku lunch. Please let us know your preference at least two days before the tour departure date.
The tour then makes its way to Hakone. Lake Ashi was formed in the caldera of Mount Hakone after the volcano’s last eruption 3000 years ago. Today, the lake with Mount Fuji in the background is the symbol of Hakone. The lake’s shores are mostly undeveloped except for small towns in the east and north and a couple of lakeside resort hotels. This is one of the most popular options for people exploring the Hakone area, and has grown in popularity in recent years due not only to increasing tourism in Japan in general, but also a greater push by the city of Hakone to attract more travelers. You can think of it as one of their secrets they’re now showcasing to the world!
The Hakone Ropeway is a very unique way to experience Hakone. It connects Sounzan Station with Togendai Station and stops at Owakudani and Ubako stations on the way. Participants in our tour can enjoy views of the active, sulfuric hot spring sources of the Owakudani Valley between Sounzan and Owakudani, and also Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji between Owakudani and Togendai. If visibility is optimal, you are in for a sight indeed!
The tour then makes its way back to Tokyo, to the departure point from the morning, with an estimated arrival of 5:45 pm at the same location.
