About this activity

You will first meet your tour escort at Seibu-Shinjuku station in Shinjuku at 8:45am. From there, you will take a 40-minute train ride to Sayama city in Saitama prefecture. Upon arrival, a green tea master will welcome you at the tea field and teach you how to pick up green tea leaves, as well as the history, type of green tea and more. After instruction, you will experience picking green tea leaves. Then you will actually roll your fresh tea leaves harvested by you and enjoy drinking green tea! They will also cook green tea leaf tempura for yourself. This is an experience only offered at the green tea field because it's so fresh! Green tea in Sayama, called Sayama-cha, is known as one of the greatest green teas of Japan along with Shizuoka-cha and Uji-cha.

After lunch, you will go to the city of Kawagoe. This town, known as Little Edo, is home to many traditional buildings and local streets. You will have a chance to taste local snacks and local beer. If time allows, visit a local temple and shrine.

Your tour will end at approximately 5pm, where you will then take a ride on the JR train to go back to Tokyo. If desired, you may separate from your group in Kawagoe.

Tour itinerary:

8:45am: Meet with your tour escort at Seibu-Shinjuu station

9am: Take an express train to Sayama-shi station

10am - 12pm: Tea picking and green tea tasting

12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch

1:30pm - 4pm: Stroll in Kawagoe

5pm: Take train back to Tokyo

Costume can be rent for 500 yen at green tea field, which you can pay at sight.
There is no central drop off point. Please feel free to get off the train at any station on the way back to Tokyo from Kawagoe that is most convenient for you. If you prefer, you can disband in Kawagoe.
In case of raining, you will still get to enjoy green tea leaf tempura.
This is join-in tour and maximum number of participants is 10 people.
