On this day excursion from Tokyo to Nikko, you will learn about the Edo period and the spiritual side of Japan. Experience traditional Japanese culture and architecture, and discover how people lived during the Edo period in Japan, a couple of hundred years ago.
Your tour will start in Tokyo, where you will meet your guide in Shinjuku. Then you will travel to the first stop on the tour, Nikko Toshogu Shrine. This shrine is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868, known as the Edo period. Appreciate the beauty of the shrine complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Learn the interesting stories and legends of the buildings from your guide.
After visiting Toshogu Shrine, you will arrive at Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura, a cultural park where you will experience the feel of the Edo time period. Popular attractions include ninja performances, an oiran parade, a samurai sword experience, traditional archery, and dressing up as Edo characters. There are also many live performances and workshops, and you can rent a kimono, try Edo cuisine, and enjoy educational exhibits for participants of all ages.
