About this activity
We will pick up guests from hotels around 8 A.M. and arrive in Nikko about 3 hours later. First sightseeing will be the renowned Nikko Toshogu. Tokugawa Ieyasu, the most prominent leader of Tokugawa Shogunate, is enshrined here, and main buildings of the shrine were made during the third generation Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. Now in the precinct there are eight buildings designated as national treasures, 34 buildings as cultural assets and the total scale of 55 buildings are exceptionally gorgeous and overwhelming.(Admission fee 1300 yen is excluded in tour price.)
Then it is lunch break with Japanese style meal. Afterwards we will move to Lake Chuzenji in the mountains above the town of Nikko. Lake Chuzenji was formed about 20000 years ago when Mt. Nantai erupted and rivers were blocked, and has been Nikko’s iconic natural lake. A promontory island can be seen in the south of the lake. There are also quite a few shops and accommodations surrounding Lake Chuzenji, and villas of France and Belgium Embassy are also located around. The landscape is particularly entrancing during autumn leaves period.
Next it will be Kegon Waterfalls. Waters from Lake Chuzenji cascade down along hillside of 97 meters’ high, and make viewers awed for both the magnificent nature and splendid flow of the waterfalls. On returning trip, we will take a break at expressway service area Hanyu for 20 minutes and guests can shop as well. This tour will be finished up upon arrival back at hotels in Tokyo.
