Private Asakusa, Tsukiji Fish Market and Sumo Stable Tour Including Water Bus Ride

Sumo is an ancient sport possessing 1500 years of history. You will watch a powerful sumo practice under your nose at Chiganoura training stable, especially before Tokyo Grand Tournaments (Jan, May, and Sep only). After observing the training, you could take commemorative photo with some sumo wrestlers. You’ll spend about an hour and half for this exciting experience. Please note that the observation is not always possible. In case that you would still want to join this tour without the sumo stable, the guide will take you to Ryogoku, a sumo town, where you can also learn a lot about Sumo.

Afterwards you’ll visit the most popular spots in Tokyo, Asakusa area. In Asakusa, two religious constructions are built in the same place unlike any other country. One is Tokyo's oldest temple Senso-ji, built in 628, and the other is Asakusa shrine for Japanese indigenous religion “Shinto”. Kaminari-mon (Thunder gate) is a symbol of Asakusa and has full impact. With 300 years history, Nakamise Street has over 100 souvenir shops for things Japanese. There’s also a street specializing to deal kitchen utensils. It would not be enough to see all attractions in Asakusa, but we spend an hour or less here.

Next, we enjoy about 40 minutes cruise from Asakusa to Hama-rikyu, which was once an Imperial family garden, on the Sumida River which was an important water transportation route in the past. From the water, you will see modern structures such as the Tokyo SkyTree, the world highest self-supporting tower for broadcasting use, Ryogoku Kokugikan where Sumo Tournaments are held, former foreign settlement, canals to or from Sumida River, 13 characteristic bridges and the east shore of Tsukiji Fish market.

You’ll then pay a visit to Hama-rikyu Gardens, which once served as a samurai warrior’s house and a typical Japanese garden in the 17th century. It is designated as Special Place of Scenic Beauty and Historic Site by the Government. There are a facility for duck hunting which Shogun enjoyed, a tidal pond which people can enjoy different scenery by the sea water level change, the oldest pine trees with 300 ages. You can also experience a tea ceremony in a tea house of Nakajima in the pond. In spring, you can enjoy a lot of cherry blossoms. On your request, we stroll this beautiful garden about 30 minutes or an hour.

Lastly, you’ll visit the world’s largest fish market, Tsukiji fish market (doesn’t include the tuna auction). We walk through the Tsukiji Outer market in which about 400 shops of fresh fish, sea foods, restaurants, cooking tools etc. stand next to the Inner market. It will take about an hour.
