Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival, with its more 20,000 fireworks, is said to be Kanto's most traditional and formal fireworks contest.
Fireworks were launched to pray for the victims that died or got ill at the Edo period great famine.
It is now a very appreciated event and Japan's best and most popular event. Every year, a lot of people come from the every part of the country to watch the firework along the Sumidagawa river.
Watching it from the grounds is not bad but it is advised to avoid the big crowd and watch from buildings to enjoy peacefuly the fireworks. Moreover, you will be able to get two birds with one stone as you will be just in the middle of the points of launching.
