Authentic Irish Dance Workshop with National Folk Theatre of Ireland

Itinerary

Travellers can get active and immerse in traditional Irish culture and learn authentic Irish dance in the National Folk Theatre Training Academy. You will learn original dance steps that have been handed down since before the 1700s, and are part of the National Folk Theatre repertoire. It is Ireland's only theatre company dedicated to the preservation and development of Irish arts - music, song and dance. These authentic steps were originally passed down the generations by dance masters. These steps have been documented by the National Folk Theatre Training Academy and passed onto future generations by professional cast members of the National Folk Theatre.

This hour long workshop is not too complicated and we adjust the class to the varying levels within the group. Don't forget to wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Following the workshop, you can enjoy a guided tour of the iconic Siamsa Tíre Theatre and Arts centre and visit the Siamsa Galleries which, during the summer season, exhibits content showcasing the history of the National Folk Theatre, and Irish artists throughout the rest of the year. You can also take photos using props and costumes from stage.
