It is the Swedish King's summary from the visit to the Tromsø Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden a few years ago. He is not alone in having good experiences with visiting our small but rich botanical garden. It is distinctive and considered when the world's ten most beautiful gardens are announced in international media such as the BBC and The Guardian.

In the garden you will find small, colorful arctic species and plants from alpine and cold regions throughout the world. They are grown in rock cracks and boulders that are obtained with their original cover of lichen and moss. We have 25 theme collections. The herring, sweet-root and primula families, the Arctic, the Himalayas, the southernmost South America and plants from ancient northern Norwegian gardens are particularly impressive, according to international experts. Many species you cannot see in other gardens.
