Begin your experience with a pickup from the Radisson Blu or Scandic Tromso hotels in central Tromsø. Put on your supplied thermal coveralls, settle inside your minibus and travel into the dark countryside, far from the city lights.
As you journey through the countryside, admire the unspoiled landscape and listen as your guide explains the science and mysteries of the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis.
Your guide will hunt for the clearest skies and select prime viewing points. Stop to scour the pitch-black skies, and enjoy a break midway through your tour for hot chocolate, coffee and cake.
Although sightings can’t be guaranteed, keep your camera at the ready; with an 82% rate of successful viewings, your tour provides a great chance of spotting the Northern Lights. Although it was raining when we headed out in search of the northern lights, we saw the dancing lights after a two hour drive. It was amazing and spectacular. Remember to wear appropriate clothing as it can be wet and very cold. Some fellow visitors wore tennis shoes and a thin jacket. The driver and guide did an excellent job.
Amazing trip with helpful and informative guide!
We had a good guide and driver who tried their best to show us the NL travelling to four sites over 5.5 hours. The conditions were not good but we saw a few NL, had a wonderful time in the snowy landscapes and didn't feel cold as the wind was low. We met some good people on the trip and had a good bit of banter with them.
