About this activity
Take a trip to the outer cliff side of the Whale Island. Facing westwards towards the Arctic ocean and an hour drive from Tromso. A snow shoe hike in Norway's wild backyard.

Description and itinerary:

When coming to Tromso, a guided snow shoe hike is a cheap and effective way to see the area. The Whale Island is known for its dramatic nature.

In the company of your knowledgeable guide you will head out to the more untamed parts outside the city and experience what it means to hike in the Arctic over the winter season.

Equipped with a pair of snowshoes, you will explore the local fjords and mountains and maybe even spot some reindeer or moose. Then take a break and warm up next to a fire while munching on tasty snacks and hot drinks. To make it that much more exciting, grab one of the snow-sliders and skid down the hill while slashing some snow!

This hike will take you towards the peak "Brosmetinden." Walk a simple path along the cliff overlooking the Arctic Ocean. Included is photographs, information and guided hike. Midway if wanted a walk without snowshoes to the top is possible. At the top is a book, where hikers write down their name and country of origin. The hike takes approximately 25 minutes to the top from the cliff edge (first rest stop), and similarly 25 minutes back. Some time can be spent on the top or the midway point to enjoy the view and take in the scenery. The air is fresh.

The trip lasts for 4-5 hours and is coordinated by a professional guide there to ensure you have the best time en route with stories of life in Northern Norway, knowledge about the area, and photography assistance. Your guide will plan a trip in the local area with spectacular sights of the Norwegian sea and surrounding mountains and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the snow!

You will receive all of the needed equipment upon arriving at the trail, so just bring your warm boots, mittens, and happy energy!
