About this activity
Take a tour of some of the finest monuments in the 'Venice of the East', Udaipur with WRJ Holidays. Your private guide will meet you in your hotel lobby, from where you we begin exploring the sights at City Palace complex. On the east bank of Lake Pichola, is the magnificent 16th century City Palace, the largest royal complex in Rajasthan. Constructed by Maharana Uday Singh when he established Udaipur city, City Palace was the seat of administration of the kingdom. Built on a hill-top on the advice of a meditating hermit, the City Palace is an enthralling marvel of architecture with several halls, palaces and museums on the complex. Constructed of marble and granite, the palace has various gateways including Amar Vilas, Badi Mahal, Chini Chitrashala, Dilkhusha Mahal, Durbar Hall, Sheesh Mahal, and several others. The holy shrine of Lord Jagganath, the 17th century Jagdish Mandir is also located on the City Palace premises. This Indo-Aryan styled temple built by Maharaja Jagat Singh, features walls and towers, offering a glimpse into the life of Lord Vishnu and the apsaras. Complete your Udaipur half-day tour, with a visit to the iconic Saheliyon Ki Baari garden built in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh, for the royal ladies. This 'garden of maids' is famous for its lush green lawns, intricate marble art elephants, a lotus pool and dazzling crystal fountains. After a glimpse into the Udaipur royalty, we head back to your hotel where your tour ends.
