The State Department Store established in 1921 as the Central Store, is conveniently located in the heart of Ulaanbaatar city. It’s the landmark everyone in Mongolia knows and is on every tourist map. Going through three different period’s national revolution, socialism and democracy, SDS with its 90 years of reach and diverse history always represented the trading sector of Mongolia.

Visit: Gandantegchenling Monastery, 1,5 KM North West of the Central Square, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia

The Centre of Mongolian Buddhists Gandantegchenling Monastery is a Mongolian Buddhist monastery in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar that has been restored and revitalized since 1944. The Tibetan name translates to the "Great Place of Complete Joy". It currently has over 500 monks in residence. It features a 26.5-meter-high statue of Avalokiteśvara. It came under state protection in 1994.

The square was named for Mongolian's revolutionary hero Damdin Sükhbaatar shortly after his death in 1923. In 2013, the Ulaanbaatar City Council changed the name to Chinggis Square in honor of Genghis Khan, considered the founding father of Mongolia. An Administrative Court ordered the name be changed back to Sükhbaatar Square in 2016 after the Mongolian People's Party and decedents of Sükhbaatar sued the city. The center of the square features an equestrian statue of Damdin Sükhbaatar, while a large colonnade monument to Genghis Khan, as well as to Ögedei Khan and Kublai Khan, dominates the square's north side directly in front of the Saaral Ordon (Government Palace).
