A good insight into a little bit more rural Mongolia. The family in the yurt were welcoming and the horse ride had fantastic views. The guide spoke great English and was very knowledgeable.

The Terelj National Park and Genghis Khan Statute are superb however we had a very young and inexperienced tour guide. Many times , the guide instead of taking the initiative to provide us more information about the places , he just asked us to ask any question/s .

We travelled from Moscow to Ulanbator on the trans-Mongolian railway and decided to book this tour to experience as much of Mongolia as we could on our 2 day stop over and we certainly were not disappointed. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour, from the moment we were picked up our fantastic young guide Oggy entertained us by demonstrating Mongolian throat singing he had been teaching himself along with a little beat boxing. Our driver then stopped on the way to the Genghis Khan statue so we could take photos with some birds of prey and a camel which you could take for a ride for a fee, we declined We were then driven a short distance to the Genghis Khan statue where Oggy then guided us around the statue and the museum giving us a brief history of Mongolia and the story behind this incredible Genghis can statue. We then went to the national park which was the highlight of the day, the scenery is breathtaking and having lunch with a local family in their Yurt was fantastic. We were then taken to the top of the hill on horseback to experience the view and I can honestly say that having not been on a horse since I was 10, I was a little nervous at first but it was a fantastic experience. The views from the top of the hill were stunning and this part of the trip visiting the family was a very hard act to follow. From the moment we arrived the family were so kind. It was time to leave so we then drove Turtle Rock and climbed that then we went to a temple on a hill for a little meditation before heading back to town. Both myself and my traveling companion really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend it. It is worth paying that little bit extra for the private tour and we both thought that this day was one of the best on our entire trip, totally loved it and we both are already talking about a return trip to Mongolia, a beautiful country and lovely people.
