About this activity
The walk begins with the passengers pick up from selected hotels around 8:00am. We will travel approximately 20 km by minibus to the Tierra Mayor valley, where many excursions are made. There we will find the Nunatak refuge.

From the refuge we will begin the walk, during which we will cross peat bogs, streams and ancient forests of Lengas and Coihues, typical vegetation of the region. If we're lucky, it is possible to see local wildlife such as foxes, condors and beavers.

We will continue walking until we reach the Emerald Lagoon, located at the heart of the Nature Reserve and Landscape Tierra del Fuego. The color of the water added to its geographical location, in the Cordillera Fueguina, invites us to stop and rest on its banks while appreciating the stunning scenery. Here the Lunch Box will be given, so we can enjoy our lunch.

Finally, we will return to the Nunatak refuge, through a different path that the one we took at the beginning, to continue exploring the reservation. From the refuge, we will get into the minibus, which will take us to our hotels at about 2:00pm, ending the journey.

Our trek to see Emerald Lake started out on a cold gray day. Before long we experienced a snowstorm which transformed the whole tour into a winter wonderland it was absolutely amazing our guide was the best ever. He was very accommodating and very thoughtful.

It was a miserable day, cool, rainy and windy. Still, we managed to do the tour. We were supplied with tall rubber boots, essential for walking in the peat areas. It was interesting to see the impact beavers were having on the ecology. Our guide was very informative and had a great sense of humor. The beautiful emerald lagoon nestled between the mountains with glaciers was amazing. Nice tour.

nice and easy trip to participate - beautiful scenery nature a bit overpriced especially in comparison to other activities that you can book in Ush for 100, the provided snack/lunch was nothing to write home about...

This was a great trek. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the natural environment and spoke very good English. The trek was a little more strenuous than I though, but we also had a very windy and snowy day. A great tour to really see nature and have more solitude than some of the other tours offered in the area. The pick-up was on schedule and boots provided were perfect for our trek through peat bogs, mud, rocks, etc. Really enjoyed this adventure!
