Paella may be the dish that Valencia is most famed for, but if you’re only eating rice when you’re in town, you’re seriously missing out. That’s why we’re taking you deeper into the city’s culinary traditions on this flavour-packed food tour.
Your gastronomic adventure will kick off in the Exiample district, at Mercado Colón, a market unlike the others in town. Under the magnificent avantgarde architecture, we’ll enjoy our first taste of the region; an organic horchata — the most traditional drink of Valencia, paired with a delicious fartón pastry. Horchata’s main ingredient is tigernut. (“tiger-whaaa???” you say? You’ll just have to join us to find out what we’re talking about!).
Our next stop will be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it artisan chocolate shop where you’ll taste two mouth-watering chocolates. Handmade truffles, bombones, and cubanitos are all on the menu —which one will you choose?!
After we drag you chocolate lovers outta there, our next stop is the famous Mercado Central, which promises a delightful sensory overload! We’ll guide you through the buzzing and chaotic stalls and start by telling you about the key spices needed to make an authentic paella - Spanish saffron and smoked paprika. Next is a gourmet jamón, chorizo and local cheeses tasting, paired with a nice, local red wine. Let us help you crack that mysterious difference between jamón ibérico and serrano.
An introduction to a small Valencian olive oil producer is up next, which of course will include a tasting. Two extra virgin olive oils, two tapenades and a special jam to be precise. This time with a white wine of course!
Our grand finale will be a stop at a local’s favourite taberna where we’ll finish our tour with two delicious tapas and more wine! Before you go, don’t forget to ask your local guide for more tips on where and what to eat while you’re in the city.

We loved Valencia in general and this tour was a special part of it. Great variety of the foods Valencia is known for as well as great local history. We arrived a little late because of a late bus and the tour guide and group could not have been more understanding. Of special note, we asked about the local version of paella and our tour guide said he would send us something. Not only did we get the recipe but we got a long email thanking us for being on the tour with the recipe and a lot of other info. Highly recommend this as a way to get to know Valencia and learn about their great cuisine.

This was a fantastic tour and I am very happy I booked this for my trip to Valencia. Lenny was a terrific guide, and as it was low season in Valencia, I ended up being the only person on the tour which worked out just fine. I did appreciate that Lenny went on the tour with me even though it was just the two of us. She always provided interesting information along all the stops during the tour and the tastings throughout were delicious. I also had time to do a little shopping too. But what I really appreciated the most here was the fact that Lenny remained in touch with me even after the tour was over and provided me with valuable suggestions for where to go during the remainder of my trip. This made everything so much more personal and special for me.

What a great tour! Lent was amazing and knowledge that made the tour a culinary journey through the essence of Spanish food. We toured 4 of Valencia's markets, sampling Jamon, chorion, Manchega Cheese, olive oils and Tapas. Her knowledge of the city was excellent. 4 hours of amazement. Loved it..

It was fantastic Lenny was very personable. She brought us to the local Valencia cuisine such as Orxata drink, difference between Iberica jamon and other type of hams. We also tasted locally grown olives and fresh squeezed orange, which Lenny reminded us is part of the themes throughtout.
