About this activity
Start your day with a pickup from your selected hotel and travel by air-conditioned coach to the central part of Malta, dominated by the medieval fortified city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital. The narrow, winding streets, dating back to medieval times, lead to the imposing bastions, commanding a magnificent panorama of the island. On the way there, discover different styles of architecture, including Siculo-Norman palaces and other baroque buildings of historical importance.

Leaving Mdina through Greeks’ Gate, stop at the early Christian catacombs in Rabat before heading to the Dingli Cliffs.

Enjoy a break in an authentic Maltese restaurant for a 3-course lunch with a glass of wine. Relax while eating and chatting with your guide, and then travel to the San Anton Botanical Gardens situated near the Presidential Palace, which you will be able to admire from outside. You'll also spend time at the crafts centre at Ta’ Qali.

At the end of the tour, visit Mosta’s majestic dome, one of Europe’s largest. Walk around inside the church with your guide and learn about its architectural glory.

Your full-day tour then finishes with a hotel drop-off.

Our tour began quite early as we had opted for a hotel pick up. Get a good breakfast as its a long tour. Tour Guide Jo was excellent... we had a full history lesson en route , very informative and interesting. Quite a lot to see so make sure you wear comfortable footwear. Overall a great tour.

After a very disorganised start to this tour, the actual tour was fair-tasting and I would recommend it. Our guide was great and very knowledgeable (unfortunately I forgot her name). Great way to see Malta.

Picked up on time and went to meet the coach, our trip was very good and got a lot of information about surrounding area, had 1/2 hour in Mdina if you wanted to visit anywhere on your own. The only reason why only given 4 stars is 1) Ta Qali Crafts Village was a big disappointment, there is a lot of building work going on and the original huts are being replaced by brick buildings, I am sure when it is all finished will be a pleasure to visit. 2) Also warning if you have walking difficulties the coach dropped us off for lunch on quite a steepish hill and although not far to walk, some people may struggle especially getting back up the hill. We really enjoyed our trip and would recommend to others.

A very interesting day trip which covered a lot of ground. The guide was very knowledgeable more time for free roaming would however have been appreciated.

A lovely tour and great thanks to our very knowledgeable guide Joan. The Mosta dome was amazing and Beautiful and the gardens so lovely and peaceful. We had a lovely lunch in Mdina then viewed this superb 'silent city'. The craft village was interesting especially the old 'nissen huts' which we remember from our younger days! Well worth it.

I waited with 2 others at our hotel but they missed us out.We waited 2 hours at our hotel Sliema Hotel. We Phoned 3 times and our hotel manager phoned twice. The second time he had to demand a taxi to join the tour at mdina which the did but without his help we would have been left high and dry. Mdina is a small historical city with good views of surrounding area. Mosta has the biggest dome church in europe. Rabat is also historical. The Ta Qali Crafts Village showed pottery and glass making but I was not interested much in that part. The hop on hop off bus also covers this route and goes on to st pauls bay.

Maria was very good, really enjoyed the tour. Mdina is an amazing place. Veg lunch option could be much better.
