About this activity
With nearly 60 festas in Malta on the annual calendar (mostly during the summer months) and nearly 20 festa events on the smaller sister island of Gozo, the Maltese festa, a religious celebration organized by the local parish, is a typical scene of the hot summer months on the island, and very much an iconic part of culture in Malta.

You will be taken to a local village for the Best Eve of the Festa Fireworks Display on the island. Along the way to the Village, places of interest are pointed out and explained by a licensed local guide. Once there, a visit to the Parish Church, splendidly decorated to fit the occasion is a must. Then relax in the unique festa atmosphere with a leisurely stroll around the village streets all beautifully lit up and filled with stalls of traditional festa sweets, while the music of the marching village brass bands fills the air.

We went on this tour last year. Fireworks were out of this world, and a definite must see, but please be aware of the following. The tour guide was sadly lacking in knowledge. She told us that we could see the fireworks from the main square. If we had stayed there we would have missed most of the display. We decided to follow the band, which took us to the right of the square, up the hill, and from there had a great view. She also told us the bus would leave straight after the finale, but could give us no idea of what time that would be. When the main display had finished we went back to the square, where they had an orchestra, which was excellent, and then some more fireworks from the roof of the main building. We were not sure that that was the finale, but asked a local who said not. A couple of people stayed with us, but all were worried about the bus going without us. We stayed as long as we dared, making plans to get a taxi back if necessary. All very stressful. We finally gave up and walked up the hill to the bus and guess what. The finale started. We could see a few fireworks, but not all of them. When we got on the bus, the majority of people had been sat there since the first display, over an hour before, because they were so worried about missing the bus. Tour guides should have in-depth knowledge of the tour they are guiding. And from what she said, it wasnt the first time she had done this tour. Having said all that, the fireworks were absolutely amazing. The music was brilliant and the fireworks were so in time to the music, i have never seen a display as fantastic. If in doubt, follow the band, who were also amazing.

We found this not worth the money. Fireworks were good but no brilliant, toilets were broken, they ran half hour late so we missed half street fireworks due to having to catch a bus!

Transport arrived nearly 30 mins late, so not a good start. Village decorated really well and a 2 hour visit would have been sufficient. Fireworks were disappointing - In the sky fireworks lasted 90 minutes, but could have been condensed down to under an hour. Guide told us where to go for the ground based fireworks, which were held elsewhere in the village, and we missed it! Spending 6 hours on this tour was way too long
