Arrive at the theater, situated within St. Elmo Bastions opposite the Sacra Infermeria in the capital city of Valletta. Enjoy a 45-minute documentary film that uses beautiful, authentic imagery and gripping commentary to cover 7000 years of Maltese history. Few places have a history as turbulent and inspiring as the Maltese Islands. Its gripping story is that of a country buffeted by world events in which the bravery and resilience of its people have been tested to the limit. From the early settlers of the temple period to the Knights of the Great Siege through to the destruction of World War 2, the film chronicles the events that have shaped the islands' history.
There are picturesque views of the Grand Harbour from the Bastion Cafeteria where your can enjoy a variety of snacks and drinks (at your own expense). A souvenir shop stocked with hand made local crafts and souvenirs is also open throughout the day. After the show, take a 30-minute guided tour through La Sacra Infermeria, the old hospital built by the Knights of St. John. The Sacra Infermeria could once accommodate 500 patients and was known as one of the finest hospitals in the world. Watch your guide bring the old wards to life with the Knights' incredible medical history. The tour concludes at the Knights Hospitallers (across the street from your original departure point).
