The Beer Cave:
The Beer Cave occupies the basement of the former palace of the influential Capitano Giacomo de Robertis, who hailed from Bologna, Italy, and presently housing the Hotel Castille. Giacomo de Robertis was employed by the Knights of Malta. It later passed into the possession of some of the wealthiest Maltese families including the Testaferrata Family and later to the Marquis Cassar Desain.

Tico Tico:
One of the first among the current generation of hotspots is Tico Tico, which opened its doors four years ago. At the time, owners Clint Debono and Mark Zammit saw potential in the capital when many looked past it. “Valletta was one of the few capital cities that was dead after 6pm,” says Clint. The alcohol of choice at Tico Tico is mainly a selection of cocktails and shooters, with a crowd ranging from teenagers to seniors gathering there to have a good time, and in some cases, reminisce about old times. “People that were stationed in Malta some 30 or 40 years ago love its regeneration, and give us photos and share memories,”.
