About this activity
Meet the local tour operator at the Visitor Centre in the Alberni Valley. From there, travel to a secure launch site approximately 10 minutes away. At this time, fill out the necessary paperwork while the the guide unloads the equipment. After getting fitted for helmets and riding gloves, the guide will give an equipment orientation and safety training session, to ensure that everyone can safely operate the machine — the Polaris RZR Side-by-Side 4-Seater.

The tour starts on the backside of Sproat Lake. Travel along the side of the lake for approximately 12 kilometers, then journey up the mountain (approximately 1,300 feet) to a panoramic viewpoint that overlooks the Nahmint Valley, Mount Klitsa, and Gracie and Sproat Lake.

Enjoy a break to take in the scenery and another photo stop on the Upper Nahmint River Bridge. See summer steelhead swimming in the turquoise-colored river below. While continuing farther into the back of the Nahmint Valley, there may be an opportunity to see the Roosevelt elk in its natural environment. These majestic animals are the largest species of elk in the world. Other wildlife that are commonly observed include deer, bear, bald eagles, and many other species of birds.

The next stop on the tour travels to another amazing viewpoint, Mount Nahmint, where French Falls flows and an old natural landslides are on display, side by side. A tasty snack and water are offered here.

On the way back, stop at the Nahmint Lake Provincial Recreation Site, where giant, ancient-old growth rainforest surrounds. View the hidden waterfall tucked away down a small trail the size of the beautiful lake. This is a favorite location to enjoy snacks, water, and more photo opportunities before returning.

This one-of-a-kind Vancouver Island experience supplies lifelong memories, amazing photographs, and a hunger for more adventure.

My family spent a memorable day exploring this beautiful countryside, guided by Blane who enthused us with his knowledge of and love for this stunning area. The buggy was great fun and easy to drive over the network of logging roads and trails. We were in safe hands and encouraged to drive within our abilities. Blane also supplied a hearty snack and plenty of water, showed us many stunning vistas and shared with us his favourite, remote, crystal clear lake which gave a much needed chance of a swim to cool off on a scorching July day. An experience not to be missed! Thank you Blane.
