Gastown Night Photography Tour
2 h
By night
About this activity
The Gastown night photowalk begins at the magical hour of twilight by Vancouver’s beautiful waterfront. We begin by discussing long exposure photography and then capturing the rich blue sky and reflections of Canada Place in the water. You'll spend about 30-45 minutes at this location.
After, start our journey towards Gastown. If the streets are wet, you'll have an excellent vantage point of Granville Street and the neon reflections, as we walk. The walk takes 15 minutes.
Your next stop is historic Gastown where you'll learn about and capture light trails and cityscapes. This is an excellent spot to use the black and white mode in our cameras to enhance the natural historic feel of the area. Spend 30 minutes at this location before heading to our final stop of the Gastown Steam Clock.
At the steam clock, put together everything you've learned: light trails, long exposures, colour balancing, composition and more. Time permitting, practice some special effects with intentional camera movement.
Beginners are welcome, but a camera with manual settings is required, as well as a tripod! Both cameras and tripods are available upon request for an extra fee. Any lens will work, but if you have a selection of lenses to bring, bring the widest you have.

This was awesome. It turned out that I was the only one for the tour. It was like getting my own personal instruction on night photography. The instruction was very informative and clean. He explained everything carefully and answered all questions. I passed on the information about this tour to the Vancouver Fairmont Hotel as the concierge was very interested in this tour.
Excellant evening, learnt a lot and shown the best spots to take shots from
