In early morning, your guide, along with driver, will collect you from your hotel and drive you to the ghats of the River Ganges for a sunrise cruise on the sacred river. Observe the rituals performed by the pilgrims who converge by the thousands everyday from across India and other countries. Return to your hotel around 7:00am for breakfast (at own expense).
At 8:15am you'll take a 35-40 minute excursion to Sarnath, one of the most important centers for Buddhists. This is the very place where the Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Sarnath has numerous beautiful temples and its archaeological museum contains rare Buddhist artifacts. After, return to the city to see to see the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dashashwedh Ghat, Ramnagar Fort, Tulsi Manas Mandir, and the Mani Karnika Ghat, then enjoy lunch at one of the city's famous restaurants (included).
In the afternoon, visit the Banares Hindu University, one of India's best-known universities, and seat of Sanskrit learning. Take a walking tour of the colorful and throbbing bazaars of the city, famous for silk weaving and silk products. From here proceed to the ghats of River Ganges to witness a mesmerizing aarti ritual being performed by in unison by the priests. When the aarti is over, you will be driven to a classical dance center to see a dance show.
After the dance show you will be returned to your hotel at around 8:00pm.
