For this course, pick one of the following options:

Course of Production

A Venetian master artisan will explain you the ancient technique of making a Venetian papier-mâché mask providing information about the use of masks in Venice during past centuries. At the end of the course, you will keep the mask as a very special souvenir to bring back home.

In case of mask production, you shall return to the laboratory after a few hours to collect the mask since it takes time to dry, the created mask will not be decorated.

Course of Decoration

A Venetian master artisan will be your experienced decorator, who will teach you how to paint and decorate your own mask, providing you with information about the use of masks in Venice during past centuries. You will choose a mask to be decorated during the course and at the end you will keep your mask as a very special souvenir to bring back home.

Course of production plus decoration

The mask needs 6 hours to dry therefore you have to book the decoration course 6 hours after the production one.

Our family of 5 (3 kids aged 11, 8 and 6) loved the mask making experience. The workshop area is small and busy but we all managed to make our own unique masks under a fun and relatively relaxed setting. Watching the master decorate and transform our masks into the final product was a real treat. Thank you for the uniquely Venetian experience.

We got a little lost finding the shop but once we were there, Nico made us feel right at home. We were able to pick our mask and paint the base layers, then Nico finished off the decorations. They almost look professional! It was a great experience and we loved talking about the art of mask making. Highly recommend this class!!

To our surprise, the mask decorating class was one of the highlights of our trip to Venice. It was wonderful meeting Giorgio and his son who helped us craft beautiful Venetian masks. We felt extra lucky as we had some extra time to work on our masks which Giorgio kindly accommodated us. The results were spectacular and we would recommend this activity to anyone who wants a unique take-a-way from their time in Venice.

This was lots of fun! You get to choose your mask we elected to just paint pre-prepared masks, not make our own as that is a two day process - and paint it any way you want. They assist with making adding some wow factor once you've gotten it painted. Takes about an hour to an hour and half - then about another 1/2 hour to dry before you can pick it up. Shop and business is family owned - really friendly and gave clear direction and assistance.

This was a most unique and entertaining way to spend time in Venice. Nico was quite informative and helpful in the creation and completion of our masks. We were very pleased with our completed masks. The atmosphere was so old world which added to our experience. It was amazing!
